To make this possible, bootleggers would have to smuggle cases of kegs and bottles across state lines, dodging law enforcement to disseminate their wares to speakeasies across the country.
This dangerous task was colloquially known as rum-running, which is also the namesake for this classic tropical cocktail. True to its name, this drink has not one but two types of rum in it, and is balanced by the addition of fruity liqueurs and fresh juice, making it a perfect cocktail for a balmy day.

Ingredients
- 1 oz.
dark rum
- 1 oz.
light rum
- 1 oz.
banana liqueur
- 1 oz.
blackberry liqueur
- 1 1/2 oz.
pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz.
lime juice
Splash of grenadine
Pineapple wedge, for garnish
Blackberries, for garnish
Directions
- Step 1Add 4 to 5 cubes of ice to a shaker then pour in rums, liqueurs, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine.
- Step 2Shake until chilled through then strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with pineapple and blackberries and serve.
