The pinnacle of easy summer grilling, foil packs are the weeknight dinner (or cookout party) savior we turn to all season long. Along with being perfectly customizable, they couldn’t be easier to make: simply add your ingredients to your foil, toss in your seasonings, and put on the grill! Once you have the ingredients prepped—all of which can be done the day before and stored in your fridge—it's a few minutes of assembly and around 15 minutes of hands-off grilling for an easy dinner ready in less than 30 minutes. This surf ‘n turf version brings the fancy factor to these foil packs, making for a wow-worthy dinner to impress at your next summer get together.
We seasoned our shrimp, steak, onion, corn, and tomatoes with a bit of lime and garlic, as well as a seasoning mixture of Old Bay, fresh thyme, and cumin. We love the flavor profile this combination creates, but feel free to experiment with what you have on hand! Take some filling and seasoning inspo from some of our other foil pack recipes (Hawaiian chicken and honey-chipotle salmon are some of our faves), or use your go-to steak seasoning blend.
Not sure about cook time? Feel free to take a peek! The shrimp should be pink and opaque and the steak—depending on how you like it—should be slightly pink in the very middle. We like ours more on the medium side, but cook the steak according to your desired doneness. When opening the packs, open them carefully and slowly—exercise caution to avoid the steam trapped within!
